What'd He Just Say? (pt.2)

So finishing off the LTB terminology we started a few days ago:

Poking the Tiger (also “sharp stick!”) – A warning that you might be treading on thin ice with the someone (usually me). It’s never a good idea to poke a tiger with a sharp stick. Either of the short forms is a warning that precedes whatever catastrophe is building based on someone’s current course of action. Think also “Danger, Will Robinson!”

POP IT NOW! – Use any “big powers” you have. Enrages, group heals, trinkets, power boosts, anything you have to finish off our opponent(s) or stay alive through the impending maelstrom.

*sigh* - The sound one of our core players makes when any number of incidents happen; usually “uh oh”, a failed “bell” or getting Gimlee-ed or Xanxed. Most often followed by “BE MORE SAFE!”

Spramp – Will & Grace reference. Used periodically. According to Jack it is the act of “spramping water onto your face in the morning”. We use it for anything similar. Hmmm, is a Shammy hitting me with that wavey-knockback power (CURSE YOU!!!) getting “spramped”?

Squishie – Any character or class in any game that dies. A lot. Quickly.

Tree! – Someone’s about to (or just did) walk into a wall, off a cliff, anything generally stupid that they should have seen coming. Refers to one of our core members who was silly enough to TELL all of us about when he walked into a tree while walking his dogs. This same person is the reason we need to clear everything in every room in every instance in every game we play…

“Uh-oh” or “Oops” – Roughly translated, we’re all about to die. Is also often followed by “Where’s my pet?” or “I didn’t mean to push that button.” See above for example, when after a wipe the usual person pulls the only mob we didn’t kill, which then eliminates us one by one Predator-style while we’re healing and rebuffing. Usually again followed by the *sigh*.

Xanx – During our tenure playing Tabula Rasa beta, there were these giant spider things called Xanx. The second they saw you, you were webbed in place, usually paralyzed temporarily, then eaten alive by said giant spider. This is also a verb, used in a similar vein as “Gimlee”. We all wanted t-shirts saying “I got Xanxed at Twin Pillows”. Twin Pillows was a reference to me talking while eating about going to the “Twin Pillars”. The whole thing stuck, and created our Guild’s single most confusing jargon phrase ever.

- These three dots typed into chat mean the same thing as dead silence in Vent after someone has said something. Essentially everyone has been rendered speechless and are staring at their keyboards or push-to talk buttons wondering what to do/say/type next…

These are all the ones I can think of at the moment. I can add more later, but I’m guessing every Guild or gaming team has similar colloquialisms. They’re fun and build personal relationships, but need to often be explained to new people. Expect a lot of “???” typed into Guild or team chat until the n00bs start to “get it”. Looking at your play team, what types of terms or weird inside stuff do you have?

"Martha Provides!" Would be called when armor dropped in Tabula Rasa. The beta armor looked like it had been knitted, no doubt, by a fan of the Great Martha.
