Can Book 7 Pull Me Back In?

With the launch of the new Book 7 for Lord of the Rings Online, I'm very tempted to give the game another go. It was only a couple months ago that I first tried it out and enjoyed it, but what's really grabbing my attention is the new noob areas. Turbine retooled the starter zones to be a bit more consistent with the rest of the game or to be more interesting to new players, or just because they were bored, but for whatever reason, I'm excited by it.

The dilemma I'm having right now is that there are several conflicting issues going on that makes me not want to play LotRO. Currently, I'm heavy into Elder Scrolls IV and EQ2, aside from my constant love for Warhammer Online. Add to that my other blogging obligations, my boyfriend time, and my renewed dedication to preparing for the GMAT, and I'm constantly left wondering where my time has gone! (by the way, if anyone can suggest a good resource for a math refresher targeted at the GMAT, let me know)

Honestly, I think I need to up and quit EQ2 all together, toss my discs out my 16th-floor window and forget my login. I'm done with it, just like I'm done with WoW. I enjoyed that time I had spent in EQ2 previously, but this second go 'round isn't clicking. The crafting is fun, and the questing is decent, but I've been there and done that. I'd have to get up to late 40's to even see content that I haven't seen before, and I'm just not that interested in dedicating that much more time to the game. And unlike WAR, where I can thoroughly enjoy the starting experience over and over again (perhaps too much), I feel the starting experience in EQ2 is really just meant to facilitate your leveling instead of facilitating your enjoyment of the game.

So, the next question is: do I really want to try and spend more time in LotRO. My previous excursion, although enjoyable, was short because I couldn't get into the game. Will the new starting zones help? Do I even know anyone that's playing the game that I can join up with that can help maintain my interest? Even if I did, would I really want a static group, or just someone to chat with in game? Or should I stick with my tried and true winners, WAR and Oblivion? And how in the world can I possibly dedicate so much time to all these with my other obligations?

Oh geez… now I'm starting to sound like an angsty teenager all over again. In any case, if you're playing LotRO and looking to add a friendly gamer to your club, let me know. Knowing myself, I'll breakdown over the weekend and re-up to give it another shot… After all, I'm just doing my duty as a blogger, right? ;)

I feel like I'm in the same boat as you when it comes to LotRO. During my break in December I spent 8-10 hours a day on that game, but the day I went back to work it all stopped and I haven't been back on since. Between work, WAR, Left 4 dead, and pvkII I just don't find the extra time to fit another mmo in; and the games I'm on currently I don't want to give up. Maybe the next break I get from work I'll fit the game back into my routine and push the last half of the levels out, who knows.

Ah finding the time to do everything you love. At the moment i'm trying to juggle my gaming, my GF, work! :(, my band and my friends.. and i'm planning a wedding.. There just are not enough hours in the day :( Which is a shame.

On LOTRO I love the IP and I did like the game when it was first released. I might be interested in going back but the game gets mixed reviews.. and I would have to give up one of my games I play now to fit it in.

Drama! :P
